The ACT Classroom

Dr. Wycondia West is a well-known and well-experienced educator who has been impacting the lives of students for 24 years. She graduated high school in 1994 from Vigor High School and received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Spring Hill College. Dr. West served as a first grade teacher, reading specialist, and testing coordinator in Mobile County Public School System for approximately 16 years. In the summer of 2013, Dr. West decided to resign from the school system in hopes of having a greater impact on students. As she transitioned from the classroom in 2013, she established her business, West Instructional Services. Dr. West completed the doctoral program through Walden University in 2016 in Teacher Leadership. She currently provides ACT prep and College Planning to private clients all over the country. Moreover, Dr. West had the pleasure of providing ACT prep for four young men who are currently NFL players: Neil Farrell Jr., Roger McCreary, Eric Garror, and Nehemiah Pritchett. For the past twelve years, Dr. West has provided ACT support and professional development to more than 15 school systems, which includes more than 30 high schools. She also provides ACT support for the Upward Bound program in Greenville, South Carolina. She authored and self-published three books: ACT Crack the Code, ACT Crack the Code Study Journal, and ACT Curriculum Calendar. Over the past few years, Dr. West has sold and shipped more than 7,000 copies of her book ACT Crack the Code. She also created ACT Hacks that provide students with easy ACT tips and strategies. Dr. West provides ACT prep, college planning, and resources to several non-profit organizations: Mobile Kappa League, Omega Lamplighters (Mobile Chapter), Big Brother-Big Sister of South Alabama, and Mobile Area Mardi Gras Association’s Junior Monarch. She has been featured on ABC Talk of Alabama, NBC15, and the 92 ZEW radio show. Dr. West is always excited to share her expertise on various platforms via interviews, podcasts, and speaking engagements. She has a private Facebook group for high school parents: ACT and College Ready. This group was designed to provide parents with continuous ACT support, college information, and scholarship opportunities. Lastly, Dr. West is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, the Mobile Chamber of Commerce, and the Mobile Area Black Chamber of Commerce. Dr. West is the mother of two lovely children: Wynter and Alvin III.
